Once you finish the above steps, it’s time to start adding the content to your website. Like most of the things, it will require planning and preparation so that your website can be prepared for a long run.
In this article, we are going to run a list of tasks which you should perform just after installing WordPress. Once these tasks are done you don’t have to worry about them in near future.
This list is organized according to the importance of the tasks.
1. Configure Title, Timezone, and Favicon
After installing WordPress, The very first step is Configure Title, Timezone, and Favicon. These steps are combined into one as you can find them in the same place in the dashboard. You can find them in Settings>>General
If you will scroll a little bit towards the bottom, there you will find the Timezone settings
This setting is necessary to show accurate times on your post. This setting is also helpful for scheduling posts.
Once you changed the settings hit “Save Changes” at the bottom.
Now the last thing remaining for this task is changing “favicon“, the favicon is a small icon which appears on the left side of your browser tab. It is helpful for the unique identity of your website.
The easiest way to change favicon is to goto Appearence>>Customize>>Site Identity
Click on Select Image and Upload the desired Image. And click on “Save“ button to save the changes.
2. Change Permalinks
The default permalink settings of WordPress is not very google friendly. To change it goto Settings>>Permalinks
Set it to “Post name” and hit “Save Changes”
3. Install Backup Plugin

4. Install the WordPress Theme

5. Delete Unused Theme
You might install and activate many themes until you get a perfect theme for your website. Instead of leaving those tried themes installed you can delete them. 7. Change Pingback and Trackback Settings
Pingback and Trackbacks are the way to notify you that someone has linked your content to their website. This happens a lot when you start link building to rank your article. Some times you can even get thousands of trackbacks. To avoid this scary situation it is better to turn off them.
If you are tired of getting spammy trackbacks and pingbacks, then there is an option for you to disable them entirely. First, go to Settings>>Discussion. Uncheck “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
Click on “Save changes“. This will turn off the pingbacks and trackbacks
8. Improve Page Speed.
An excessive load time can result in bad SEO and can cost you a lot. There are lots of caching plugins that can easily provide an optimal solution to this problem.
9. Install and Configure SEO and Analytics Plugins
If you want information about who visits your site and their response to your site, then Google Analytics is the right choice. It also gives detailed information about website traffic.You have to initially sign up and then integrate Google Analytics to your site.
Although there are plenty of plugins available to track your site’s stats and performance, the recommended one is Google Analytics for WordPress. It is easy for beginners as well as experts to use.
10. Add Website to Google Webmaster Tools
This is the most important step, to optimize your website for search engines you have to add your website to Google Webmaster Tools. This tool makes sure that your website doesn’t feel left out.

11. Optimize Images
